5 Ways to Get Your Blog Indexed by Google in 24 Hours

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

This is a guest-post from AdesBlog.com. Follow Ades on twitter @ades.

We all know that content is king and that if you keep blogging… if you keep doing what you love… the traffic and the money will follow suit. While that’s partially true, there is also things that you can do to:

  • Index your newly launched blog fast by major Search Engines
  • Increase traffic to your blog
  • Improve your SERPs (Search Engine Result Positions)

Why wait right? Content can be king but waiting around for traffic to come by itself is not a good way to start blogging. So let’s start…

Getting Indexed

Let’s say you launched a blog today and want it on Google’s results tomorrow. Can this be done? Yes.

Easiest way to get indexed by major Search Engines is to get mentioned by established blogs. This usually will get your blog indexed within 24 hours. But since we are new (i.e the newly launched blog of ours) I don’t think any blogger want to mention it. So instead of begging other bloggers to notice your newly launched blog, you just have to figure out other ways of getting indexed by Google fast. Can it be done? Absolutely! (All it takes a little effort on your side).

1. Blog Communities

There are few blog related community portals that have a very good rankings in Google and other Major Search Engines Results, they are: MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, Blogged and NetworkedBlogs, particularly MyBlogLog. This means that if you get your blog on these blog communities, Google will have no other choice but to index your blog. So, go ahead and register for an account on these communities and list your blog on it.

What to pay attention: Your blog’s description (have a proper write-up), keywords & tags (add related keywords and tags to your listing, this will be used by other members to find your blog), branding (put your logo, avatars, screenshots etc. have a consistent branding everywhere), and list your blog in the correct category.

2. Site Valuation & Stats Sites

Some of those How Much Your Site Worth? sites have a good ranking in Search Engines. All you need to do is to go there and check how much your site worth. This would create a special page for your blog and consecutively it would be indexed by Google. Here is a list of worthy sites: WebsiteOutlook, StatBrain, CubeStat, WebTrafficAgents, BuiltWith, WhoIs, QuarkBase, URLfan and AboutTheDomain.

3. Feed Aggregators

List your blog’s feed in these feed aggregators Feed-Squirrel, OctoFinder, FeedAdage. Once you have submitted your feed to these sites, they will keep track of your newly published posts and index them in their site. Whenever someone clicks on the blog post title, he/she will be redirected to your original blog post sending you free traffic and getting your latest posts indexed by Google.

4. Social Sites

Registering account on Social Sites with the same username as your blog’s URL is very effective in getting your blog indexed by Search Engines. Especially for those targeted keywords.

For example, if your blog’s name is WhiteElephant, it’s a good practice to register the same username at twitter as @WhiteElephant, and to create a page in Facebook at www.facebook.com/WhiteElephant. Having a consistent keyword-username on all major Social Sites will help get your blog indexed faster, and at a later stage it will also help build a “brand” for your blog.

So, get account on major Social Sites for your newly launched blog, namely: Twitter, Facebook (create a page for your blog), Digg, StumbleUpon, Delicious etc. By the way, it’s a good pratice to create a separate Social Sites account for each of your projects. This way you can stay focused and post messages that are related to your project. In the long run, this will help build a community that are like-minded around your project.

Note from Darren: it’s worth nothing that many social media sites (like Twitter) use no follow tags on links which means the links don’t really help with SEO. Having said this - it’s still worth getting pages for your keywords/brand as these pages can rank in and of themselves in Google and can help you to have control over numerous search results for the same keyword.

5. Misc Sites

Squidoo is a community website that allows people to create pages (called “lenses”) on various topics. Creating a topic that is related to your blog and then including your feed in that page would help your blog get indexed by Search Engines. Squidoo used to have a really good ranking in Google results, but not so much today. But it’s still ranks well and it shouldn’t be neglected.

ChangeDetection is a website that monitors sites for changes. When you monitor a particular site using ChangeDetection, it will ask you whether you want the notices to be public or private. If you say public, it will be published in their news section. For example; AdesBlog.com got an update today, type of update: text additions etc. This of course will get picked up by Search Engines and Search Engines in return will index your blog.

Technorati is a search engine for searching blogs. According to Wikipedia, as of June 2008, Technorati was indexing 112.8 million blogs and over 250 million pieces of tagged social media. It’s a dying breed, but not just dead yet. You have to definitely register for an account and get your blog listed on Technorati.

That’s it. Once you are done with creating accounts and submitting your newly launched blog in the above mentioned sites, you should see your blog in Google’s Search Results within 24 hours. Most of the time it will appear within the next few hours only.

Lastly, getting indexed is one thing but sustaining that traffic is another. And this is where the Content is King phrase should truly be emphasized. Because, without a good and valuable content, all your effort will be just wasted.

Social Networking Websites And Anti-Social Networking?

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

The Dark Side Of Social Networking
You are known by the company you keep.  Who knows where this old saying comes from?  More than likely, it is a saying that predates any form of written communication.  In caveman days, it was not uncommon to drive out fellow Homo Sapiens from the group if it was felt this fellow traveler represented a potential drag on hunting and gathering.  Really, how can a tribe afford to have a weak link in a group when they are trying to stay alive?  We have come a long way since caveman days but some of this sentiment remains. This is why no serious company would affiliate or associate with anyone who would give their company of bad name or embarrass them.  In “real life” unceremoniously giving someone the boot is not all that hard to do when you can see the damage they are causing. However, when businesses seek to promote themselves online been a number of troublemakers can cause hassles for your business.  This is the proverbial dark side of social networking websites and marketing.

Choose Your Friends Wisely
Many people on social networking websites are anything but social.  In fact, then might even embody the worst stereotypes regarding denizens of the internet.  So, let’s add another old saying to the current equation: choose your friends wisely.

Don’t Add Friends Without Profile Checking
If you are using social networking websites to promote your business it would be best to add a lot of friends to your profile.  This is not because you are looking to sell to them, but rather it makes a great impression when it appears so many people are paying attention to your business.  This is why whenever requests for friends appear in a mailbox they are added without a second thought.  Well, if you are adding friends without checking out their profiles first then you may be making a huge mistake. Seriously… what if a number of those friends have profiling promoting drug use, criminal behavior or all sorts of anti-social behavior? This would hardly reflect well on your business and sets the stage for a potentially major embarrassment. While it is nice to have friends you have to pick them wisely. This is true in life as well as in business social marketing.

Use Anti-Social Networking To Your Benefit
So remember this lesson when it comes to social networking websites, use anti-social networking to your benefit when the situation arises. You’ll be glad you did.

Social Networking and Specialization

Monday, June 9th, 2008

 Happy Monday,

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you find this post helpful in your quest to make money online. As always, feel free to ask a question or leave a comment, as your participation is always welcome.

Social networking is growing by leaps and bounds most never thought possible. The size and scope of sites such as MySpace and FaceBook have grown to include millions and millions of members. Unfortunately, this does create one minor quandary: the sites just become too darn big! This makes it rather tough to find those individuals and entities that truly appeal to you. Now, if you are using a social networking site to promote a business or build traffic to a website you would want to stick with those members that would be more likely to be interested in what you are offering. While in the past locating some of the members might have been a little tough, the advent of specialty networking sites have emerged. This means that the ENTIRETY of the networking site shares the same interests.

For example, there are social networking sites for pet lovers, skiers, science fiction fans, wrestling fans, graduate students and pretty much every niche imaginable. That creates a wealth of opportunity for business minded people looking to promote their interests. Instead of having to look for sub-segments and specific groups that would be of interest to particular members, one realizes that EVERYONE on the site is a potential customer.

Let’s look at the example of the aforementioned pet lover’s social networking site. Let’s say you are publishing a blog or website that deals with pets. This blog/website earns income from pet related affiliate marketing or pay per click advertisement. Launching a profile on a pet lover’s social networking site would probably result in TONS of targeted traffic. This, of course, means the odds of successful conversion rates would be much higher than with a “generic” social networking site. Remember, the entireties of the members already share the same interest in the subject matter. This makes them prime for targeted traffic. So, find a specialized social networking site that suits your needs and see what it can do for your website’s traffic stats. Trust me, they will go up!

Until next time, great success in all you do!

Making Money Online - Forums Go a Long Way in Educating

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Remember the old pen pal sections in the pro wrestling magazines of the 1970’s? I didn’t think so. Anyway, these ads for pen pals were the old, archaic way like-minded people could exchange information. Today, there is no need for the very slow method of exchanging snail mail letters with one another. Instead, people can connect with and communicate with each other on message boards. Regardless of your personal interests, there is a message board out there that fits your needs. Now, if you are someone looking for a way to earn money online then many of these message boards could prove very helpful.

In a way, message boards that seek to inform people become a sort of learning laboratories were ideas, opinions and experiences are shared. Often, the discussion on message boards is quite informative. Yes, there are some boards that do not prescribe to common rules of decorum but they are usually not popular and not long lasting. When you do find a solid message board then you will find a ton of helpful information at your disposal. For those new to the realm of Internet businesses, this extra help has numerous rewards.

The top-notch boards dealing with online businesses are usually well run, properly monitored and home to many knowledgeable people. If you are new to making money online these individuals can prove quite helpful. You can “lurk” and read as much information as you please or you can post questions on areas you may be confused. All sorts of topics are covered on these boards including affiliate marketing, search engine optimization, pay per click marketing, direct selling and pretty much anything else under the sun.

If you need clarification or someone to help you along your way, these types of message boards and forums are invaluable. Find a few good ones and take advantage of them. After all, that’s what they are there for!

Have a great weekend, see you back here Monday.

-Craig

Social Spark: Social Networking and Making Money Blogging

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Social Spark has arrived! Well, it is still in the development stages but in the near future it will revolutionize blogging. For those looking to make money blogging Social Spark (SocialSpark.com) is one of the new concepts in blog revenue generation. In fact, it is a unique and revolutionary concept that combines the very popular module of blogging with the extremely popular concept of social networking. Essentially, Social Spark is a social networking platform for bloggers with an emphasis on earning revenue. This is music to a blogging entrepreneur’s ears!

Social Spark has the potential to be hugely successful because it provides the two main items that blogs need to be successful: traffic and advertising revenue. When you create a profile on Social Spark you are creating a profile not for the purpose of self aggrandizement; you are creating a profile to promote the various blogs that you have crafted. From this, the ability to significantly boost traffic is made possible because you profile becomes your main promotional hub. Other members of the network stumble across your profile and then they stumble across your blog. Not a bad deal, eh? Then again, you do not have to rely exclusively on “stumbling”. You can aggressively promote your profile which would, of course, have the resultant effect of greatly expanding traffic to the site.

Best of all, Social Spark offers direct sponsorship of the blog. That is, members of Social Spark have access to advertisers who pay flat fees ($5 - $25) to place permanent ads on your blog as well as advertisement that pay a nominal daily fee for advertisement. This is a HUGE plus over pay per click advertisement because no one has to click on any ads in order to draw revenue. There is no conversion and that makes an affiliation with Social Spark for those who may not have the colossal traffic needed for huge PPC conversion rates. This, in and of itself, makes it a very attractive venture.

Until next time, great success in all you do!

The Entrecard Widget For Internet Business

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

So what makes Entrecard such a valuable resource in a sea of networking sites? Well, let’s examine the issue. There are a number of networking sites out there that have the added benefit of providing a way to promote your blog and increase its traffic but are there any sites out there that are designed to serve the exclusive purpose of enhancing blog traffic? Actually, there are a few and one of the best is Entrecard. The entire purpose of Entrecard is to utilize advertising widgets to aid in the marketing of blogs.

For those not entirely familiar with what Entrecard actually entails it is essentially a free advertising network where members help one another with promoting each others blog. The way the system works is quite easy. Basically, members of Entrecard can place their widget ad on any other blog in the network for a certain specified number of days at no cost. (The ad, of course, will then drive targeted traffic to your specific blog) The number of days one’s ad remains up is based upon the number of Entrecard credits one earns by being an active participant in the service’s networking schematic.  If you would like to see how it looks, go look over there on the right side of my blog above “Internet Business Products” in the sidebar and you’ll see the widget ad.

Entrecard is easy to join as all you need to do is visit www.entrecard.com and become a member. (Membership is, of course, totally free) Soon after, you will receive your own personal widget code which you can paste on your blog and other blogs. There are also options available for you to customize your widget which will make it a more attractive item for tempting people to click on the widget ad. In doing this, you will get the ball rolling for increasing and improving your traffic immensely.

If you truly wish to increase your blog exposure and boost its traffic you need to explore all low cost and effective options available. Entrecard clearly fits this bill and if you have a blog and want people to know about it then signing up with Entrecard would be a step in the right direction.

Make Your Internet Business Twitter

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that this post will improve your online business. Also, check out my new 22 page FREE report entitled “10 Top blogging Questions People Are Still Looking For The Real Answer To” and can be received by subscribing to my blog in the form on the right.

I am always amazed at the new tools that keep coming out that can be used for your blog or website. I am not only amazed at how they help you build your business, but also how they keep coming up with these great ideas to invent these tools.

One of the best new tools out there happens to be a website called Twitter. Twitter is a neat tool that was originally made to be a free social networking service and now has evolved into a handy business tool also.

Mini-blogging is a very accurate description of its usage. Basically what you do is input a message into Twitter’s system, not to exceed 140 characters and less any code or html. It will take URLs and automatically convert them into tiny urls when the message is displayed.

You can send or receive “Tweets” via your browser, email, instant messaging clients and SMS, you are always in touch. A practical example would be to send a message out that you have a new blog post available and all of your followers would instantly know it.

Like most social network sites, Twitter does require some etiquette like not using it for instant messaging someone or to use it too much as this may turn some of your followers away.

So visit Twitter today and see what it is all about. I hope this post was of help to you and your Internet business and as always feel free to leave a comment or ask a question, your input is greatly appreciated.

Like what you’ve read so far?  Then we encourage you to subscribe to our RSS feed.  The feed shows my latest Internet Business posts in full and can easily be viewed in your favorite news reader.
