How Much Do You Focus On Your Internet Business?

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope that you find this post helpful in your quest to make money online. As always, feel free to ask a question or leave a comment, as your participation is always welcome.

Today, I want you to be brutally honest with yourself when you answer the following question. How much do you focus on your Internet business? Are you totally devoted and that is all that you have to do in your life? Or, is it just something on the back burner that you pay attentions to when you have the time or feel like getting to it?

I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but you probably don’t focus on your Internet business as much as you think you do. Most people think that multitasking is a great way to get things done. You are accomplishing many things at once in the time that it would take to do one or two things.

According to Wikipedia, “Multitasking has been criticized as a hindrance to completing tasks or feeling happiness.” At one time multitasking was the thing to do to get work done. But, in reality, it was just an excuse to eat breakfast, talk on the phone and watch TV while you were supposed to writing an article for your next blog entry.

Total focus is needed to accomplish your goals and to be successful in your Internet business. What does this mean? It means that when you sit down to work on your project, whatever it be, that is all you do. No TV, radio, phone calls, checking e-mail etc… you get the idea. If you are sitting down to write an article, then that is what you do, nothing else.

Make a list of what you want to accomplish the night before, that way when you get up, your time is already defined and your focused on getting the list done. If something pops in your mind while your are doing your project, then just jot it down or record it quickly to a mini-recorder and take care of it when the task at hand is completed.

Also, make an effort to get rid of time waisting events in your life such as watching TV or playing online games. This will give you more time to structure your life around your business and allow you to focus on it a lot more.

I hope you have enjoyed this post and as always feel free to leave your question or comment.

Lean, Mean, Internet Machine!

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Hi All,

Happy Friday to you.

We all want to have very successful Internet businesses, at least I think we do :)  In order to be the very best at what we do, I strongly believe we need to be top performers with our daily habits and implement methods or strategies that will make us operate better and feel better about ourselves.

By taking care of our personal habits, we can then use this personal optimization in our business to make it even more successful.

I have put together a list of some daily habits and ideas that you can apply to become a lean, mean, Internet machine!

Give a few of these a try for 30 days and see if it makes a difference in your productivity and self-worth.  30 day trials are much easier to establish and seem to work best for daily habits.

Here are some 30 day trial ideas:

  • Read for 30 minutes to an hour every day on a topic that interests you.
  • Go to bed at a reasonable hour (10 or 11 p.m.) and set a time to rise early (5 a.m.) to be more productive.
  • Meet somebody new every day by starting a conversation with a stranger.
  • Write in a journal every day.
  • Write a new blog entry every day (I need this one).
  • Meditate every day.
  • Pray every day.
  • Learn a new word every day.
  • Call a different friend or relative every day.
  • Clean up and organize your office or home every day.
  • Give up surfing the net if you feel your becoming a surf junkie.
  • Give up visiting forums if you feel your addicted to visiting forums.
  • Give up Television (major time waster) or tape your favorite shows and watch them after the 30 day trial to see what an impact it had on your time and productivity.
  • Take a walk every morning or evening.
  • Do something fun every evening or get out and go somewhere different every evening.
  • Solicit new business by contacting someone different each and every day.
  • Give up unhealthy addictions e.g. cigarettes, coffee, junk food, or soda.

This should be a good list of ideas to choose from.  Give some of them a try for 30 days and just think of the benefits you will gain from those 30 days.  Beyond 30 days you will probably loose interest.  If you can commit to 30 days you will be able to stick with it and convince yourself that it is a manageable goal.  This is a simple approach that provides a lot of power.  By committing every day for 30 days to do something, you can’t justify missing a day or promise yourself to make it up later.

Setting Goals For Your Online Business

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Thanks for stopping by CraigSAndrews.com today. As always feel free to leave a comment or question for me about making money online with your online business. I hope that you find my information helpful and if there is a topic that you would like to see discussed please let me know.

Today I would like to talk about setting goals for your online business. I know, you have heard about setting goals ever since you were a kid and if you haven’t picked up the habit yet, then there is no time like the present to start.

By setting goals you can achieve more, improve performance, increase your motivation to achieve, increase your pride and satisfaction in your achievements, improve your self-confidence and plan to eliminate attitudes that hold you back and cause unhappiness. In short, goals can help you achieve success in your online business and in life.

The following are key factors to remember when setting goals.
1. Write down your goals - Always write them down and review them daily, if not more. If you have a goal to make $100 a day on the Internet, then tape a piece of paper on your monitor with the number 100 on it.

2. Set realistic goals - Set goals that are realistically attainable. If you don’t then you are setting yourself up for failure.

3. Set short and long term goals - Set short goals like daily, weekly and monthly goals as well as yearly and longer term goals. The shorter goals will not only help you achieve the long term goals, they will also give you confidence as you complete them.

4. Use positive language - The use of positive language will make your goals more pleasant. Also, use terms like “I will” instead of “I should” or “I’ll try.”

I hope that these tips will help you achieve your goals for your Internet business and in life. As always, the tools in my sidebar are here to help you and can help you achieve your goals.

FDR Was Right

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

Hi All,

In an earlier post I talked about how important it was to get off your tush and just do something. To pick a project that you have been holding off on and start on it, because “nothing ventured is nothing gained” as the saying goes.

I then started thinking what might make us not start an article, a website or trying Google AdWords. What is that one thing that is holding us back, that one thing that is the difference between success and failure. the difference between living paycheck to paycheck or being very wealthy.

That one thing is FEAR! Fear of trying something new, fear of starting that new business, the fear of making your first product, the fear of failure. Fear is that force that keeps so many people in their shells. They are unable to achieve their dreams because they are afraid of looking dumb or afraid of failing.

I know it is easier said then done, but Franklin D Roosevelt was correct when he said that “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. ” But fear can be overcome. Fear tends to be the one thing that holds us back the most in our lives. I have fear with every project that I do or think of doing. I do not always win, fear does have a pretty good record against me, but I am beating him now!

One thing that I have been doing to help me get over these fears is by looking at the rewards that I will receive if I beat this demon we call fear. It is funny how when it is all said and done, the reward makes the fear I faced at the beginning of the project almost seem non-existent. To get more ideas of overcoming your fears visit StevePavlina.com and view or listen to his podcast on overcoming fear.

Push Yourself Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

The last major post I wrote on Sept. 4 talked about why some people will never succeed with their Internet Business.

Most of the “instant gratification” responses and comments I receive are directly related to people that are stuck in their own comfort zone, and are looking for the easy way out or they are just to scared to try anything in fear of failure.  Do you know what my definition of fear is? False Examples Appearing Real.

I’m not scared.  In fact, I’m looking for different ways I can push myself out of my comfort zone.  Yes, I confess that I am guilty as the next guy.  I fall into a comfort zone too at times, but I’m quick to recognize it and look for ways to push my way out.

I look for ways to challenge myself, overcoming my fears, and gaining new skills and knowledge so I can grow as a person.  The more you are willing to push your way out of your comfort zone, the more successful you will become.

Conquer your fears, look at them square in the face and don’t back down.  If you start to feel uncomfortable, then good.  That’s one of the tell tale signs in overcoming them, and as long as you know what you need to do to overcome them, success is in your grasp.

Sure you might fail, but so what.  Pick yourself up and try it again, but learn from your mistakes.  Your not going to go bankrupt, loose your house, or be thrown out in the street.  Start small and work your way up into some bigger fears.  If you haven’t read “The 4-Hour Work Week” by Tim Ferriss, I suggest you do.  I commented about his book back in June or July.  At the end of some of the chapters, Tim adds a Comfort Challenge for the readers to actively participate in.  The reason for these comfort challenges are to push the reader out of their comfort zone and realize that your not going die if you face fear.

Sometimes it takes goals to overcome your fears or at least get yourself off of dead center.  Terry Dean, who runs an Internet Business Blog and is a fellow Christian that I admire and respect.  In his post “How To Set Goals” he talks about four primary tools towards reaching your goals.  I suggest you read his post and make it a part of your goal setting to help overcome some of your fears.

As I mentioned before, when I started with my Internet Business I didn’t know a thing about how to make money or blogging.  Sure I was a little afraid.  I felt like a lone minnow swimming around with a bunch of hungry fish.  Did I let that fear stop me?  No I did not.  I set goals, I made plans, I tried, I failed, and I succeeded.  I knew if others could do it, I could too.  I just needed to fail a lot more so I could learn right from wrong.

You don’t have to be an expert on everything to have a successful Internet Business.  In fact, if you’re just starting out you never will be able to succeed trying every different offer that’s thrown your way.  Master one or two Internet money making methods, and grow from there.  Don’t worry, I’ll be there every step of the way.

If there is one thing I want you to remember…

Why Some People Will Never Succeed With Their Internet Business

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

I receive a lot of questions and/or comments on my email mentor program from people asking me something in the lines of…

“How can I easily make a lot of fast money online?”

-or-

“I really want to make money with my own Internet business, but I don’t want to spend a lot of time at it”

-or-

“nothing too complicated”

-or-

“I’m not sure if I can do it”

-or-

…well you get the idea.

I’m very sorry, but I’m going to have to rain hard on your parade.  There’s a four letter word that comes to mind when hear these people make these comments and questions… W-O-R-K.  It’s gonna take work, and a lot of it to get your Internet business successful enough to put it on auto pilot.

Our society is full of people with instant gratification mentality.  Instant coffee, instant meals, instant money out of a cash machine, instant downloads…instant, instant, instant!

Instant success?!  NO! Not unless you win the lotto or your great Grandpa dies and leaves you a good chunk of change!  It’s just not gonna happen unless you put in some W-O-R-K!

There are a lot of people that believe the world owes them success just for living.  I’m not only talking about the Internet world, but in the actual work force as well.

I’m 100% for helping people willing to learn and work hard, and I know that the majority of my email clients are willing from talking to them.  Those I call the 2%’ers.  The real Internet entrepreneurs.  It’s the other 98%’ers that need a swift kick.  Those 98%’ers that have no desire to work hard at their dream and learn the ropes should not waste any more time on developing information products or affiliate programs, and they should be simply focusing on wearing a rut in the road driving to their 9 to 5 job where they can collect a paycheck every week.

I can remember when I first started online with my Internet business, I didn’t know a dang thing about any of this.  I didn’t know what HTML was.  I didn’t know what a blog was. I didn’t know how to make money.  But, you know what?  I busted my little tail off learning, reading, surfing, practicing, and digging deeper every day, week, and month until I understood what the heck everyone was talking about.  Within a few months I was up and running, and never looked back.  I was becoming an Internet entrepreneur.  Sure, I hit roadblocks.  Sure, I failed many times at things.  I’m still not an expert in a lot of subjects, but you don’t have to be.  The Internet is wide and forgiving.

You know what else?  I did most of it with only a few hours a night or day to spare.  I had to spend time with my wife and child  in the evenings after my day job or my wife would dis-own me.  Actually, my family is very important to me and it is of great importance to me that I spend time with them.  Family time is precious to me.  Most nights I had only a few hours a night to work at my business.  Some nights I wasn’t able to work at all, and it killed me.  You see, I was focused and determined to learn.  I was not going to give in or give up.  I wanted success bad, and I was going to make it through my Internet business.

One of the greatest tips I can give you is to find an area or two (e.g. info products, or affiliate marketing) that you are comfortable with or interested in and stick with them.   Find a couple of reputable and trusting mentors, and follow their teaching.  There are a lot of programs and Internet guru’s filling your email every day.  You will never be successful jumping from one program to another, one idea to another idea, or one mentor to another mentor.  Narrow it down, focus on a couple of methods and mentors, and learn it until you’re successful making money at them.

I wanted to be a 2%’er.  Do you?

180 Trillion Leisure Hours Lost!

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Hi All!

Here is a fun little article on everyday life management.  It has a nice twist to the norm.  Hmmmm, maybe it really should be the norm.  I think it should.  What do you think?  You be the judge.

Nothing Great Was Ever Achieved Without Enthusiasm!

Monday, December 11th, 2006

I’ll never forget the first day of class in my Sophmore year in High School.  I was running late.  I don’t know how I was blessed with this characteristc but, I liked to goof off between classes back then.  I came running into my second period class, which was one of those classes you just take to fill up your credits.  The class was called “American Folklore”, and was taught by our High School Tennis Coach.  He was, what you call, a little on the eccentric side.  Anyways, as soon as I entered the room he had written in HUGE words a saying that I would come to never forget, even until this day.  After I sat down, and received a few chuckles from some of the class, our teacher made this profound opening statement.  He said, “If there is only one thing you learn from this course, and nothing else, I want you to at least remember what I have written on the board.”  To my astonishment, I have never ever heard a teacher come across like that in all my schooling.  He was so serious and so convicting that it stuck with me for the rest of my life.  The words on the board read “Nothing Great Was Ever Achieved Without Enthusiasm, by Ralph Waldo Emerson.”  It stuck with me so much I still remember the author too!

How true it is.  No matter what you do in life you need to get motivated and enthusiastic about it.  You need to take charge of your situation.  We are all given 24 hours a day, so take responsibility today!

If your having trouble getting started with an internet opportunity of your own, my Online Infopreneur Course will help you get started.  It is a small token to pay, and I kept it that way to give people an easy opportunity to learn and get started. You can visit the site at: http://www.onlineinfopreneurcreation.com

If you have an existing online business, and are lacking the energy or feeling frustrated, you need to stop right now and take some action.

There are 3 things I commonly see which amount to apporoximately 95% of the failures in this world:

1. Unable to focus on one project at a time until it is finished.
2. Refusing and unwilling to take responsibilty for their actions.
3. Not following the path of someone who can lead by example, and has been where you want to be.  Having a mentor.

A motivator is someone who can orchestrate a plan and pursues it with all their passion.  They are relentless in their quest.  If they fail, they devise another plan, and never give up trying.

Are you a motivator?  Do you have a mentor?

As I once learned, If there is nothing else you learn from reading my blogs, Remember…”Nothing Great Was Ever Achieved Without Enthusiasm!”

Thanks for reading! If you know someone who could benefit from this, feel free to forward it to them!
