The Many Uses of Articles

Friday, April 24th, 2009

From press releases to blogging – articles have many valuable uses in the Internet world. One of the keys to becoming a successful article writer is to know these uses and to cater to them to best of your ability.

Naturally there are an untold number of practical uses for article writing that cover any and every given topic you can think of – but some applications are more common and practical than others and it is these uses you need to be aware of and exercise to appeal to the vast majority of your clientele.

Some of the uses for article writing that are in the highest demand include, as previously stated, press releases and blogging for company websites, email auto responders, ebook compilations, special reports, etc. etc.

While it might seem strange to write somebody else’s blog – the truth of the matter is that company blogs (keeping the customers informed on what’s happening with the business) are rarely written by the company themselves, but by article writers, just like you!  You would be surprised to find out how many ghostwriters write blogs for companies and individual blogs as well.

Remember, almost everything you read on the Internet, from how-to guides to FAQ pages or ‘About Us’ blurbs were written by article writers who were paid for their time and effort. Anything and everything you read on the Internet is fair game for you to mimic in some fashion; so in truth, the applications to article writing are endless.

If you truly cannot come up with any ideas, spend an hour browsing the web. Read everything you come across and keep in mind that someone just like you was paid to write it. There is no shortage of material or practical uses for article writing. It may not be original, but with a little time and effort you can make any topic your own.

Until next time, great success in all you do!

Article Submission: Increase Traffic, Backlinks and Affiliate Sales

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Article submission to ezines or article directories can boost traffic to your site; increase backlinks and boost affiliate sales with minimal effort at virtually no cost to you.

A single published article can generate hundreds of backlinks to your site – all depending of course on the success of the article itself. The more (quality) articles you write and publish, the more traffic and backlinks you’ll accumulate.

To get started with submitting articles to ezines and article directories, all you need to do is sign up for an account with an ezine or article directory and begin writing articles.

Remember – every article you write and publish is yet another advertisement for your own website or Internet business. The key to your success is sheer volume.

If you’re not good at writing articles, there are hundreds of services out there where you can hire someone to write your articles for you, or freelance writers and forums where you can advertise.

Once you’ve completed your article you can manually submit your article to each article directory or article submission ezine or you can use an article submission service. Article submission software, in this case will save you lots of time and effort.

There are a lot of good ideas to keep in mind to make your article marketing more successful in generating traffic backlinks to your site.

Write focused articles on one subject. Keep your articles within the preferred 300-1000 word range. Make sure you read and follow the articles submission guidelines. Make sure to go over your articles with a fine-toothed comb to make sure they’re perfect – and most importantly, resist using a passive voice.

Your articles should have a take charge and commanding tone. Avoid use of the words “I” and “We” and focus instead on a conversational directive way of speaking. People find comfort in being told what to do from a confident, non-biased voice.

Until next time, great success in all you do!

A Guide to Article Submission

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

There’s no doubt about it – article submission is one of the fastest growing and most effective website promotions out there, so you might be asking yourself how can you get a piece of the pie?

Naturally, the first thing you’ll want to do is educate yourself. Article submission is essentially what it sounds like. You write articles and you submit them to thousands of online publishers, ezines, newsletters and websites.

Why? What’s in it for you? The answer is of course, targeted traffic. The more articles you submit, and subsequently publish, the more attention your Internet business receives; and more attention equals more money!

Each and every article you submit links back to your own Internet business. Every published article is yet another advertisement for your own business.

Submitting articles might sound like tedious and thankless work, but with the advent of article submission software, its actually relatively painless.

After you’ve familiarized yourself with the basics, your next and perhaps most important plan of action is to invest in reputable article submission software. Once that’s done, the rest is easy! Write your articles (or hire someone to write them for you), upload them with your software, and watch your business grow.

Terms like article marketing, article publishing, submission software and targeted traffic might sound overwhelming, but the breakdown is actually quite simple.

In layman’s terms, what you’re doing is promoting your business by helping other people promote theirs.

Of course one of the foremost questions on everyone’s mind is – does it work? The answer to this question is simple and likely expected. Like anything, you get out of it what you put in.

The key to making article submission work for you is volume. The more articles you write, submit and publish, the more traffic your own Internet business will receive.

Until next time, great success in all you do!

7 Ways the Internet Has Changed Marketing Forever

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

The marketing landscape has shifted radically since the
arrival of the internet – and at amazing pace. After all,
just ten years ago people would have asked “what’s Google?”

Here are seven crucial ways that the internet has changed
marketing forever:

1) Cost

There was a time when even the most basic marketing
campaigns cost money - and lots of it. Direct mail, for
example, meant paying to have materials written, designed,
proofed and printed - then delivered to thousands of
addresses.

It was expensive, with a relatively poor return on
investment. Now, at the touch of a button, you can send an
email to everyone on your mailing list – for free. And,
it’s measurable…which brings us onto the second point:

2) Measurability

With extra pressure to justify media spend, marketing
departments need ways to track defined metrics.

Through analytics programmes and other software you can
measure your traffic, conversions and ROI – and make
immediate strategic decisions about your website. It’s not
that traditional marketing can’t be measured, it’s just
that you have so many more options and metrics to control
and analyse online.

3) Reach

The internet isn’t bound by geography. A small business in
Devon could easily market to customers in San Diego. While
businesses can still use the internet to target local
traffic, marketers can now cast their nets into areas and
demographics that they wouldn’t have dreamed of a decade
ago.

Plus, people can engage with a company any time they like.
It can be midday or midnight – a website should always be
accessible, unlike high street shops constrained by their
opening times.

4) Search and keywords

Search is one of the most powerful forms of online
marketing. Getting high rankings in the search engines for
terms relevant to your business can have a huge effect on
sales. The beauty of search engine optimisation is that it
helps you discover what your customers want through keyword
research and helps you deliver the appropriate results.

Analysing keywords is also free market research. By mapping
what users enter into search engines you’re getting a window
into your customers’ minds. Instead of paying for focus
groups and surveys, or relying on sheer guesswork, you can
find out what they want – and give it to them.

5) Direction

With most traditional marketing the message is brought to
the consumer - sometimes known as “push marketing”. Online,
things are much more complex. Users decide what they want
to reach via search engines. They block ads and shy away
from hype. Internet marketing is more about engagement – or
“pull” marketing. This is why the following is so
important…

6) Content

Content reigns supreme on the web. You could look at Google
as the ultimate content provider – and Google’s ability to
deliver relevant content enables it to generate billions
in online advertising.

Consumers now use the internet to research, find
entertainment, share opinions, read, watch videos,
socialise and educate themselves. Customers demand
information. An abundance of info can be skimmed, but a
lack of information cannot be remedied.

Be useful, meaningful, genuine and open – and you’ll avoid
getting lumped in with the avalanche of spam and pointless
content. You can use SEO and PPC (Pay Per Click) campaigns
to help ensure that you deliver relevant content that users
love.

7) Interaction

When marketers throw around the words “social” and
“web 2.0” they aren’t just using buzzwords
(well, maybe just a little.)

The internet is build on interactivity – whether that be
through social networking sites or simply clicking on a
hyperlink. Internet users now demand the ability to connect
with each other online – through blogs, comments, personal
profiles, reviews, favourite lists – anything that allows
individual expression.

The significance of this for the canny marketer is that you
can’t push products on people online. Customers are now
encouraged to engage with a company and its brand, offering
feedback, connecting with like-minded people and even
joining social networks. Ultimately, your customers are
your best marketers online, and treating them well can be
extremely productive.

Mare The Most of Your Article Marketing

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

This is a good article about what I have been preaching on article marketing for the past few years. I hope you enjoy.

If you’re doing business online then you have no doubt heard about the power of submitting your article to article directories. With the advent of article submission software, the job of distributing your content across the web is easier than ever. There are a number of guidelines you should follow to ensure that you get the most from article marketing.

In this article, I will give you some article writing and submission guidelines that I’ve personally used to enhance the overall effectiveness of my submissions and guarantee that articles are placed on web pages with a high Google page rank.

The value of article marketing is that your content has a life beyond a single web page. Website owners visit many of these article aggregation websites to find relevant content for their website, blog, or newsletter. As a result, your article can continue to be published for quite some time after it is submitted and posted. The real value of article submission is when third party sites provide a link back to your website in exchange for the content you have provided.

Make Sure Your Article Is Long Enough. Too often I see valuable content that is only a few words short of a powerful article. Many article submission websites have a length requirement of 500 words or more. I like to meet that minimum by at least 35 words so that sites that do not count prepositions still measure more than the minimum number of words.

Use Your Keyword Phrase Within Your Article. When writing an article about a particular topic, choose the keyword phrase that promotes your website, product or service. Doing so allows each search engine to easily locate and classify your content.

Submit Your Articles To Article Directories. To get the most from your article marketing, look for top ranked article web sites using some type of article submission tool, software, or application that can provide an indication of a web sites age or Google PR. By doing so, you’ll be able to spend more time submitting to web sites that can provide real value to your article marketing efforts.

Use Article Submission Software. There have been a significant number of advancements in the area of article marketing during the last two years. The market offers a number of article submission software packages that can automate or semi-automate the submission process. Although nothing can fully replace authoring your own content, article submission can be made easier with the help of article marketing software and technology.

Submit Your Articles To Top Sites. Don’t waste your time submitting your article to sites that are brand new or only have a low Google PR. Find top ranked article sites using some type of article submission tool, software, or application that can give you indication of site age or Google PR. This helps you to spend your precious time submitting to websites that can truly provide value to your article marketing efforts.

Article marketing is a fantastic way to improve your websites Google ranking. With the help of distributed content and links back to your website or blog, search engines take notice and assign your website a great deal of value.

If you’re doing business on the Internet then you are someone who considers article marketing as an important part of your search engine optimization strategy. Not only can article marketing help you promote your website, but distributed content is viral in nature and builds your traffic to your website over time.
