Dealing with Lean Times

Our theme of late has been “making the most out of an internet business”. It is time to look at a few simple strategies that can be employed when the economy is down.  As you will soon see, weak economic cycles come with their difficulties. However, they do not automatically ruin a business. Actually, there are a number of ways to boost revenues. Let’s look at some….

One of the best ways to boost business during leans times is to offer deals and specials.  Simply offering 10% or 20% off on a product or service will work wonders for stimulating business. In some cases, you can offer discounts on bulk orders. So, even while your profit margin is reduced you still make earn significant income via volume.  That is to say you will make less profit per order but you will more product.  This is a very simple concept, but it is also one that works well.  In fact, it can be employed successfully during economic downturns as well as boom periods.

Often, the promise of “free things” will work wonders for stimulating interest. Some may assume that this refers to “buy one, get one free” type offers. Actually, while such offers are definitely helpful in terms of stimulating interest, they will not automatically make a sale. For example, providing a number of free things on the website itself could prove quite helpful. Providing free (entertaining) pod casts on your website can work wonders for attracting a large audience. But, only a small percentage of the audience will purchase. This is fine as it would not be realistic to assume 90% will purchase. So, if the percentage of paying customers declines during lean times, simply raising the size of your potential customer base might increase sales. After all, 10% of 100 is 10 and 10% of 1000 is 100. So, if you increase your potential customer base with an entertaining website then revenues might very well increase significantly.

Make no bones about it; lean economic times can harm an internet business. However, there are ways to make the most out of lean times. Best of all, the ways to circumvent these problems are sometimes very simple.

Globalism and Online Businesses

Previously, we mentioned the benefits of an internet business when the economy slows down. The low overhead of an internet business provides the potential for success during lean times. Granted, while this is definitely an attribute it can never be a substitute for revenues. That is to say, for a business to succeed it must have sales. If the business is not moving product then it is not going to be profitable for very long. Obviously, earning revenues can prove difficult when an economy slows down. However, with an online business there is a unique component that can circumvent a number of economic woes that traditional businesses must contend. Specifically, an internet business is not constricted to a particular geographic area where the economy is weak.

Another plus to an internet business is the fact such a business is global in scope. That means that you can reach potential customers all over the world. This would prove to be quite helpful if domestic business started to dry up. Actually, the notion of looking overseas for potentially successful markets is not a new concept. It is not uncommon, for example, for rock bands to tour extensively overseas when their domestic popularity declines. Smart members of the entertainment business are always looking at the big picture with the hopes of expanding their potential revenues.

This is not to infer that all internet business will automatically earn huge money because of globalism. For a business to be successful – online or otherwise – it must offer a product or service people want and/or need. If it does have such a product or service then the business will not make any sales regardless of the size of its distribution channel. However, in a global market a merely “decent” product can have a chance at being a moneymaker simply because it is reaching a huge marketplace. And, as previously mentioned, it gives the proprietor the leeway to circumvent those locales that may be suffering economically. While this may not be the most optimum strategy to employ it does keep a company in the game even while the Dow slows down dramatically.

#6 Spot for Search Term “Internet Business Blog”

Hi All,

Yes, I’m in the #6 spot for the search term “Internet Business Blog” with Google. I’ve been floating in and out of the top 10 for the past couple years now. I may drop to 12 or 15 after some time, but then once the search bots crawl my site again I’m back up in the top 10.

No this post is not about tooting my horn, and I’m not looking for any pats on the back. This post is to remind you that with the right system and products, you too can achieve the top 10 in Google for your desired search terms.

One of the biggest obstacles you need to overcome is that you won’t get anywhere with FREE products. You need to invest in some products to help your business. You just can’t develop a business on free stuff. I know it’s great to get your hands on free stuff, but the free stuff only scratches the surface with general information and generic products. You need to invest in products and information that hold the real key to success.

I have built my different niche businesses on mastering “Article Marketing”. That is how I drive targeted traffic to my sites, period. I could never attain my success without investing in some article marketing products. I used to own an article marketing software program, but I also invested in a few others to help aid me in areas that my software didn’t reach. One of the other article marketing products is called Instant Article Wizard. It allowed me to speed up writing articles for topics I didn’t know a whole lot about for some of my niche sites.

I created “Article Pro Directory” to add quality content to my sites from 2 of the major directories, Isnare and Article Marketer, so Google would notice the added value and my search engine ranking would increase. “The website where an author can post an article is known as an article directory. The primary reason an author can post an article without cost is that the directory owner places advertising on each article page and collects the revenue generated from the advertising. The article directory site gradually gains in search engine popularity as more articles are posted, which benefits both the author and the directory owner with increased article views.”

Not only does “Article Pro Directory” dramatically help your ranking through quality related content, I added Google Adsense as an option to generate revenue.

I also invested in a program called “Three Way Links” which builds back links from other sites with different PR (page ranks). This is an excellent program and it works if you follow the instructions and concentrate on the proper keywords. I also generate a massive amount of back links from my article marketing program.

There are other services you need to invest in e.g. autoresponders, hosting, blogging instruction, keyword help, search engine optimization strategies, and obviously other ebooks and reports.  I have spent at least several hundred doallars in all those different products. One of the most expensive products I purchased was a coaching program around $500. It was one of the best investments I made to learn about many of the other aspects of internet marketing. I learned and developed article marketing very well, but I was weak in other areas, and the coachng program really help me advance in those. I highly recommend joining one if you want to one of the best at internet marketing, just be careful what program you choose.

The biggest impact that has helped me the most is undoubtedly “Article Marketing”. I learned when I first started online that article marketing outperformed all other forms of traffic generation, so that’s what I concentrated on and was determined to become an absolute master at, which I feel I have done very well.

I’m currently working on a “cutting edge” article marketing e-Course membership that covers the exact strategies and methods I use to achieve unimaginable  success. It has it all, and there is no other product on the internet with this type of personal detailed instruction on article marketing. I currently cover 25 different strategy lessons and I am adding more each month. It will come in a PDF lesson, and an MP3 version to listen to. It also will contain special offers, freebies, product discounts, bonus reports and more.

I have already decided to offer it at an introductory low price for all to take advantage of. It is not a cheap course by any means. It maybe inexpensive, but not cheap. The instruction and information contains 10x’s the value, if not more. I’ll be writing a little more about it when the time gets closer to launching the e-Course so keep a look out.
