Never Underestimate Keyword Optimization

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Search engine optimization success is often based around keywords.  Keywords are the terms that people type into the search engines when looking for information. Therefore, it is critical that any website looking for decent search engine rankings must embody a solid keyword optimization strategy. That is, keywords need to be wisely integrated into the text of the website so the site can be discovered through search engine queries.

Note: It is most definitely not advisable to string a massive amount of keywords together to the point it the text becomes incomprehensible. This would not be a wise keyword optimization strategy. Not only will visitors ignore your site, the search engines may do so as well. The search engines spiders have a knack for recognizing keyword spam so don’t even go there!

Some keyword optimization strategies revolve around keyword density. Keyword density refers to the percentage of times a keyword appears in the text of a website in correlation to the number of words in the text. That is, if a keyword appears 15 times in a 500 word “essay” then the keyword density would be 3%.  Sticking with a keyword density between 1.5% and 3% would be the best way to go. Anything less would not be helpful and anything more may be problematic.

Some strategies regarding keyword density involve incorporated a large volume of keywords to the point where it upwards of 4%. Honestly, this is not an inherently bad density although it has the potential to detract from the quality of the writing.  Text that is overly heavy with keywords does not exactly provide a smooth read. It may aid it getting a website noticed in the search engines, but it may drive visitors away due to the awkward text it creates. So, to be on the safe side, it may be best to stick with 3% or lower density. This will work wonders…guaranteed.

The New World of Internet Marketing for Small Business

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Is internet marketing for small business strategies a wise one?  After all, what is the point of promoting a small business on the internet?  If it is small in scope or provides local services how would it benefit from a marketing campaign that reaches all over the globe in via the internet?  These are a number of questions that can all be answered in one single statement: marketing on the internet certainly would not hurt.  Actually, as the saying goes, “No publicity is bad publicity”.  Then, really, no internet marketing strategy is a bad one no regardless of the type of business that is being promoted.

No business, regardless of its size or scope, can survive in this day and age without a reliable presence on the internet. There are a number of reasons for this.  One common reason is the fact that the internet is quickly replacing the local yellow pages as a source for locating regional businesses. That is a logistical fact. There are, however, psychological aspects that need to be taken into consideration as well. In other words, even if your business is a small one it should still employ an internet marketing strategy. Lacking such a campaign could leave a very negative opinion on potential customers.  That is, the lack of an internet presence will create the impression your small business is falling behind the times.  Such an opinion would hardly aid in boosting sales.

Then, an internet marketing campaign could be a major factor in allowing a small business to grow significantly in scope.  This is obviously because the internet aids in expanding the sales environment beyond previously geographically or budgetary restricted boundaries. So, it goes without saying that internet marketing for small business strategies has much value. That is why they are so highly recommended.
